Juve sweat on Morata after 'strange' abdominal pain

Juventus striker Alvaro Morata is set to undergo tests after both he and Mario Mandzukic were forced off early during the champions' opening win of the season away to Genoa on Sunday.

Spain international Morata was replaced by Roberto Pereyra after suffering a "strange abdominal pain", according to Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, halfway through the opening period.

Croatian striker Mandzukic, meanwhile, made way for Simone Zaza with eight minutes remaining after suffering from cramp.

Frenchman Paul Pogba created one goal and scored the other, from the penalty spot, as the champions secured a 2-0 win at the Luigi Ferraris stadium to end a drought that had seen the Turin giants slip to 16th place.

"It's been strange to see Juventus near the bottom of the table," said Allegri.

"But today's win was important because the lads wanted it, they went out and battled for it and it's our first of the season.

"We're on our way back, but we're taking it slowly. One game at a time."

Inter Milan sit top thanks to a 100% start to the campaign, with a two-point lead on Torino while fellow title hopefuls Roma are third a further point adrift.
