Olympics: IOC confirm venues for 2016 football tournament

The International Olympic Committee on Wednesday confirmed Sao Paulo, Salvador, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte and Rio as host cities for the 2016 Olympic Games football tournament.
The IOC's coordination committee is in Rio this week for three days of meetings ahead of a closing news conference on Friday which will unveil the body's overall assessment of preparations for South America's first Olympiad.
The decision to take some of the football nationwide -- all of the selected cities will see World Cup action in June -- mirrors that of the 2012 London Games organizers.
The 2012 tournament, won by Mexico, saw matches spread between Wembley, Manchester, Newcastle and Coventry as well as into Scotland and Wales.
The committee said on its Twitter feed that all test events will be held between July 2015 and May 2016, with the exception of this August for sailing.
The Games start on August 5, 2016 and run to August 21.
