Southampton's Senegalese winger Sadio Mane was dropped for his side's Premier League game at Norwich City on Saturday after being late for a team meeting, manager Ronald Koeman revealed.

"He was in the team, but he was too late in the meeting," Koeman said in comments published on Southampton's official Twitter account. "We have rules in the team."

Mane, 23, had played in all 19 of Southampton's previous league games this season, scoring three goals.

An £11.8 million ($17.4 million, 16.1 million euros) signing from Red Bull Salzburg in September 2014, he impressed during his first season at Southampton, scoring 10 goals in 32 games.
