Norwich City announced on Wednesday that Scottish winger Robert Snodgrass will be assessed before a decision is made on whether he can play against Manchester City on Saturday.

Snodgrass was taken to hospital on Tuesday after sustaining a concussion following an aerial collision with Rafael da Silva during Norwich's 4-0 defeat at Manchester United in the fourth round of the League Cup.

"The club can confirm this (Wednesday) morning that Robert Snodgrass was released from hospital late last night and will travel back to Norwich today," read a statement on the Norwich website.

"Snodgrass received treatment for nearly 10 minutes from both Norwich City and United's medical staff after the knock to his eye socket and was taken straight to hospital for precautionary checks.

"(Manager) Chris Hughton added that the Scotland international will continue to be assessed over the coming days with regards to being available for selection for Saturday's Premier League trip to Manchester City."
