Scotland are to visit Norway for a friendly game next month, the Scottish Football Association announced on Thursday.

The match will take place on November 19, with the venue to be confirmed at a later date.

Gordon Strachan's side will play the United States at Hampden Park in Glasgow four days earlier.

"We enjoyed a fantastic result at Hampden this week against a top-class nation and it is important we continue to challenge ourselves to improve," said Scotland manager Strachan, whose side beat Croatia 2-0 in their final World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

"We want to build on the improvement we have seen and facing the United States and now Norway gives us an opportunity to finish 2013 in better spirits than we started the year.

"We want to give the fans reason to be optimistic ahead of the (2016) European Championship qualification campaign next year and these next two games give us an opportunity to do so against two highly respected football nations."

Neither Scotland nor Norway have qualified for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

Scotland last visited Norway in August 2009, losing 4-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Oslo.
