McGregor saves Celtic from St. Mirren shock

Celtic avoided a shock first home defeat in domestic football for two-and-a-half years as Callum McGregor's late equaliser salvaged a 2-2 draw with St. Mirren on Saturday.
St Mirren were the last Scottish side to win at Celtic Park as visitors in January 2021 and were on course to repeat that feat after Curtis Main struck twice in the first-half.
But McGregor's low drive nine minutes from time saved the Scottish champions' blushes, even if they have won just once in their last four league games.
Defeat for Ange Postecoglou's men against Rangers last weekend meant Celtic could no longer set a new club points record. They were again far from their best having sealed the title.
"We've gone off it a little bit the last couple of weeks, particularly the defensive side of the game, and when you do that it's very hard then for us to play the football we want to," said Postecoglou.
"The heavyweight champion of the world doesn't have to win every round but he holds the belt. We hold the belt. People can try and write narratives."
Main took advantage of a makeshift Celtic defence to open the scoring after just four minutes with a low angled drive.
Kyogo Furuhashi's 31st goal of the season 10 minutes later looked to have restored normality.
But Main struck again before half-time when he headed in and only the post denied the English striker a memorable hat-trick after the break.
Celtic's second-half pressure finally paid when McGregor fired home.
Rangers can reduce the gap at the top to eight points when they face Hibs on Sunday.
Hearts cut the gap on Aberdeen to two points in the battle for third with a 2-1 win at Tynecastle.
At the bottom of the table, Dundee United remain on course for relegation as all of the bottom three lost.
Jim Goodwin's men are two points behind Ross County in the relegation playoff place and three behind 10th-placed Kilmarnock after a 2-1 defeat at Livingston.
Motherwell's Kevin van Veen scored in a ninth consecutive league game as his 99th minute penalty inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Ross County.
Killie missed the chance to virtually guarantee survival as they lost 1-0 at home to St. Johnstone.
