Juventus, Tottenham to play in ICC Australia

Italian champions Juventus and England's Tottenham Hotspur will play in next year's International Champions Cup Australia, organisers said Sunday.

Juventus, Italy's most decorated club, and Tottenham will be joined by another European team for the tournament in the Australian leg of the global pre-season club competition in Melbourne in July 2016.

Organisers said the third European team will be announced in February.

The tournament debuted in July this year with a total of 221,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground across the event week to watch Real Madrid, Manchester City and AS Roma.

Juventus, Italy's most successful club with 33 Serie A championships, are chasing their fifth consecutive league championship and back-to-back Coppa Italias this season.

Australian A-League champions Melbourne Victory will also appear in next year's event and will play in the first game against Juventus on July 23.

Other legs of the inaugural global friendly tournament in 2015 featured clubs playing in China, North America and Europe.
