PAOK fined 100,000 euro for Greek Cup violence

Super League side PAOK were on Thursday fined 100,000 euro ($117,000) by Greece's football federation for crowd trouble which resulted in the cancellation of the Greek Cup competition this season.

The club were also given a five-point league deduction and ordered to play three matches behind closed doors following incidents during a semi-final, first leg Greek Cup match against league champions Olympiakos.

The game at Toumba Stadium was abandoned in the 89th minute with the visitors leading 2-1 after PAOK fans invaded the pitch and dozens of flares and smoke bombs were thrown from the stands.

Deputy Sports Minister Stavros Kontonis ordered the Greek Cup competition be cancelled for the first time ever after the violent scenes.
