Sheffield United underlined their promotion credentials with an impressive 5-2 demolition of Championship leaders Burnley on Saturday.

Paul Heckingbottom's side twice came from behind at Bramall Lane as Oli McBurnie inspired the victory with a brace.

Manuel Benson has scored twice for Burnley either side of Iliman Ndiaye's strike for the Blades.

McBurnie hauled United level and Jack Robinson got the third in rollercoaster clash.

United's fourth goal came from McBurnie before Anel Ahmedhodzic made it five for the third-placed Blades.

"The game went exactly how we thought it would. We knew Burnley would try and play on the front foot and win, they've got lots of good players," Heckingbottom said.

"We weren't going to change our approach, we want to play on the front foot too. As well as Burnley have done, we've got good players as well."

Burnley's bitter rivals Blackburn are just two points behind in second place after Ben Brereton Diaz secured a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield.

Norwich are in fourth place after beating Rotherham 2-1 thanks to goals from Kenny McLean and Aaron Ramsey.
