Josh Campbell's brilliant stoppage-time equaliser gave Hibernian a dramatic 2-2 draw against nine-man Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side were seconds away from extending their perfect start to their league campaign after goals from James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence put them 2-1 up at Easter Road.

But, weakened by red cards for John Lundstram and Alfredo Morelos, Rangers ran out of steam in the closing moments as Campbell's leveller sparked wild celebrations from the home crowd.

Despite having a huge Champions League play-off second leg coming up on Wednesday, Van Bronckhorst made just two changes to the side that started the 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the first game at Ibrox on Tuesday.

Rangers were awarded a penalty in the last minute of the first half when Antonio Colak fell in the area after being needlessly tugged by Rocky Bushiri while Hibs keeper David Marshall was in the process of clearing a passback.

The hosts furiously protested but Tavernier kept his cool to slot home the spot-kick.

Hibs hit back five minutes after the break when Martin Boyle nipped in between two Rangers defenders to meet Elie Youan's cross with a close-range finish.

Rangers restored their lead in the 58th minute when Lawrence powered home a header from a Borna Barisic cross.

But the visitors were rocked in the 66th minute when Lundstram was shown a red card by referee Willie Collum after he cynically chopped down Boyle while he tried to mount a counter-attack midway inside the Rangers half.

It got worse for last season's Europa League finalists in the 75th minute when volatile Colombia striker Morelos, who had only come off the bench 13 minutes previously, was sent off for swinging an arm in the face of Marijan Cabraja.

Hibs laid siege to the Rangers goal and eventually got their equaliser in stoppage-time when Campbell volleyed home from the edge of the area.
