Rangers held by Hearts in top-of-the-table clash

Rangers conceded a last-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 at home to Hearts and remain just one point clear of the Jambos at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Craig Halkett headed home to salvage a point for the visitors at Ibrox, who had been largely outplayed by Steven Gerrard's men.

John Lundstram's wonderful strike from 30 yards had given the home side a deserved half-time lead, but they could not add to their advantage.

And after Hearts boss Robbie Neilson was sent off with three minutes remaining, a mistake by Gers keeper Allan McGregor from a corner allowed Halkett to nod in at the back post to keep the visitors unbeaten in the league and still a point behind the champions.

Celtic took advantage of Rangers' slip-up to move within four points of their Glasgow rivals with a 2-0 win at Motherwell.

Portuguese winger Jota fired Ange Postecoglou's men in front early on from Tom Rogic's pass.

David Turnbull then doubled the visitors' advantage on his return to Fir Park with a sensational strike from long-range.

Dundee United remain above Celtic in third after they thrashed Hibernian 3-0 at Easter Road.

St Mirren held off a Ross County comeback to win 3-2 at Dingwall, while Livingston were 3-0 winners at St Johnnstone.
