Former Belgium star Scifo back in dugout with Mouscron

Former Belgium star Enzo Scifo is taking over second division outfit Mouscron, the club said Tuesday.

The 55-year-old Scifo, an 84-times capped veteran of four World Cups and a member of the Belgium squad that reached the semi-finals in Mexico in 1986, was last in a dugout post in 2016 with the Belgian under-21 side.

The former Inter Milan, Monaco and Bordeaux star, who previously coached the club between December 2007 and June 2009, will be assisted by fellow former international Emile Mpenza, younger brother of Mbo Mpenza, a former club favourite who has just taken over as sporting director at Mouscron, who were relegated last season.

"The goal is to get Muscron back into the Jupiler Pro League top flight as soon as possible," said Scifo, who began his coaching career in December 2000 at another Belgian side Charleroi, for whom he also had a spell as player.
