American starlet Bryan Reynolds signs for Roma

US prospect Bryan Reynolds has joined Roma until the end of the season, the Serie A club announced on Monday, with the defender arriving on a loan deal from FC Dallas with an obligation to buy for a total fee which could reach 12.5 million euros ($15m).

Roma said that they would pay 100,000 euros ($120,670) to take teenager Reynolds on loan and that as per their agreement with Major League Soccer they would then buy the player for an intial fee of 6.75 million euros "subject to certain conditions".

Performance-related add-ons could then bring a further 5.65 million euros to the deal.

"I am excited and humbled to join AS Roma. It is a dream come true," Reynolds told the club's website.

"After speaking to the club, I quickly realised that this is the ideal place for me to improve and develop as a footballer."

USA youth international Reynolds has played 29 times for Dallas since coming through the club academy set up in 2019.

He was at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital on Sunday night to watch his new team maintain third place in Serie A with a 3-1 win over Hellas Verona.

He was pictured chatting with fellow new signing Stephan El Shaarawy, who returns to Roma after 18 months at Chinese Super League club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.

Roma are six points behind current league leaders AC Milan and travel to champions Juventus, who sit fourth, on Saturday.
