Sassuolo squander chance to go top in Italy

Sassuolo fought out a dreary 0-0 draw with Udinese on Friday to squander an opportunity to take top spot in Italy's Serie A.

Udinese, second from bottom in the table, came for the point and were happy to field a five-man defence to thwart a Sassuolo team who are the division's top scorers with 18 goals in seven games.

By the end of the game, it was goalkeepers Andrea Consigli and Juan Musso who walked off the Mapei Stadium pitch the happiest after hardly breaking sweat.

Sassuolo stay in second place.

On Sunday, leaders AC Milan, one point ahead of Sassuolo, can extend their advantage when they host Hellas Verona.

Champions Juventus go to Lazio also on Sunday, starting the weekend in third place, four points off the top.
