Rebic, Jovic push Frankfurt toward Europe as Hanover's woes continue

Eintracht Frankfurt's attack hit their stride in the second half on Sunday as the visitors ran out 3-0 victors at struggling Hanover 96.

Luka Jovic scored his 15th goal of the season while Ante Rebic added his eighth to lift Frankfurt to sixth. Frankfurt are in a Europa League spot and are well in the hunt for a Champions League berth.

In the first half, Hanover's defence gave Eintracht's much-vaunted attack little room. The visitors looked flat as they struggled to overcome the fatigue of their midweek victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League.

After the break, Frankfurt rediscovered their form, with Jovic's pinpoint pass finding Rebic in the penalty box for the Croatian to score in the far corner.

Provider turned scorer just 10 minutes later, with an unmarked Jovic heading in a cross from Filip Kostic to double the lead.

The Serbian is two goals clear of Bayern's Robert Lewandowski and Dortmund's Marco Reus on top of the Bundesliga goal-scoring charts.

Kostic kept the provider-turned-scorer trend alive in the first minute of injury time, turning in a long ball to score Frankfurt's third and put the result well beyond doubt.

Hanover are 17th in the table and have lost six out of their past seven games. Their clash with 16th-placed Stuttgart next week looms as crucial in the battle to avoid relegation.
